Monoprint is a simple and enjoyable way to make expressive and spontaneous one-off prints. You will explore different methods of transferring ink from an acetate plate to paper: drawing onto paper placed on top of the plate, wiping away the ink, and painting directly onto the plate.  We will use both hand pressure and the etching press to transfer the image – you can replicate the former approach at home. As it’s a quick technique, you can be very productive, making a number of different images in a single session. It’s a great introduction to print and offers experienced printmakers a new dimension to their work, especially as it can be combined with other print techniques.
